How are we all doing today? Well, isn’t that such a coincidence because I’m doing great as well.

Welcome to my website! Technology is so fancy these days. If you couldn’t tell from the self-aggrandising header, my name is Rory, and I’m a writer, performer and artist living in London. Jack of all trades, master of none, yadda yadda yadda.

Here you can find my portfolio, links to my writing pages and updates on current projects I’m working on. Also pretty pictures and silly little things and sure **** it a blog, why not?

So in the words of Demi Lovato in Camp Rock, this is real, this is me, I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be now - have at it and have a wee browse, why don’t you?

About Me

I know, I know, it’s the question on everyone’s lips, none more so than Hugh Jackman in Les Miserables - who am I? And it’s an excellent question at that. My name is Rory McKeon, and I’m currently working freelance in the arts. I grew up here in London before moving up to Bonnie Scotland (the motherland) around seven years ago to study English Literature at the University of Edinburgh. After completing my BA with distinction, I’ve recently moved back to London - mainly because I missed that sweet, sweet air pollution.

For the past few years, I’ve been performing as a drag queen up in Edinburgh, going by the moniker Alicia Tryde. I’ve been performing across Scotland and running my own shows as part of a small-scale production company, including Edinburgh’s premier live vocal drag cabaret ‘Tryde & Tested’, which raised money for a different charity every month. I also worked with Virgin Hotels to produce and host a range of drag events throughout this time. As well as performing, this also gave me an opportunity to tackle other skills that I have come to enjoy, such as sound and video editing, sewing, music production, graphic design and social media marketing. And all while having a gay old time, of course.

Now that I’m back in London, I’m focussing more on my written work than my drag alter ego: I’m in the middle of writing a novel, I’m about to throw myself properly into playwriting, both for theatre and one-person shows, and I’m keen to explore music and production even further. I’m also excited to get back into journalistic writing, opinion pieces and academic essays, all of which are itches I’ve not had as much of an opportunity to scratch recently. This website is a wee portfolio dedicated to all of this and more - hope you enjoy, babe x
